A grave marker, also known as an ‘epitaph’ are the short inscriptions we write on the headstone to honour the deceased. It can also be written on the memorial plaque, gravestone or cemetery marker.

It usually includes a person’s name, date of birth and death along with a short message or bible verse. It can be beneficial to discuss the epitaph with the family before deciding on the exact words to use.
